Beef Meatballs are tender, savory bites made with seasoned Aussie ground beef, garlic, and oregano. Whether baked or pan-fried, they offer a delicious mix of meaty, herby flavors and pair well with sauces, sandwiches, or rice for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
500g ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Method
Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a spoon.
Shape the Meatballs: Roll small portions of the mixture into bite-sized balls (about 1-2 inches in diameter). Place the meatballs on a tray lined with parchment paper.
Freeze the Meatballs: Transfer the tray to the freezer and freeze the meatballs for 3-4 hours, or until completely solid.
Store the Meatballs: Once frozen, transfer the meatballs to an airtight container or freezer bag. Label the container with the date. Store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Defrost (Optional): You can defrost the meatballs overnight in the fridge or cook them straight from frozen.
Cooking Method Baking: Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Arrange defrosted or frozen meatballs on a baking tray, leaving space between each one. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown. Pan-Frying: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and browned on all sides.
Add to Your Favorite Dish In sauce: Add the cooked meatballs to your favorite tomato sauce or gravy. Let them simmer for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors. In a sandwich or over rice: Place the meatballs in a sandwich or over steamed rice. Top with cheese, sauce, or your favorite toppings
